I don't remember where I first saw this purse pattern, but I've been in love with it for months. Emmaline Bags is a Canadian based store that sells their own line of purse patterns, as well as other purse notions. One of the purse patterns is the Necessary Clutch Wallet (NCW for short). There is a large group of NCW makers and a really great Facebook page with tons of tips/ideas/tutorials. I bought the pattern and a "few" supplies in September and had them shipped to my mother in law. She was coming to visit us in October and would bring them with her. So after I bought the pattern, I had to wait a month before I could make it.
The instructions are pretty clear. But if I got stuck, the issue was probably talked about on the Facebook page. It took me about 13 hours to make this purse. I made almost every mistake possible, so I did a lot of seam ripping. People who have made tons (like over a 100!) can make one in 2 hours. I think I could shave off 4 or 5 hours. Inside the purse there are 12 card slots for credit cards, a zipper pocket, and two side pockets.
I am pleased with my first attempt. Next time I'll use heavier interfacing for the body (since I would use this as my purse instead of just a wallet). And I really need to learn to stitch in a straight line. The Facebook page has tons of suggestions for different variations, so I'm excited to try a few.
I plan on making many more of these purses, and they will probably be Christmas gifts in the future.
