I had a friend send me this article about the World's Scariest Bridges. The first bridge listed is the Peak Walk at Glacier 3000 (fyi Glacier 3000 is the name of the company that operates several cable cars and ski lifts in the area, but people seem to refer to it as if it was a destination point). This bridge had just opened a week before this article was written. Coincidence? I doubt it. Marketing ploy done by Glacier 3000? Probably...and it worked.
Glacier 3000 is an hour and a half from our house so we decided to go visit on a Sunday (sidenote: Sunday's are the best days to do out door activities since all stores are closed). Once you get to the town you take 2 cable cars up to the top of the mountain. It's 3,000 meters above sea level (hence the name: Glacier 3000). At the top of the mountain are a few ski runs and 2 restaurants (one indoor and one outdoor). It really was a great idea for them to build the bridge, as it gives non-skiers a reason to pay the fee to ride the cable car.

I wouldn't call the bridge scary, but you did get a nice view. It's claim to fame is that it's the first suspension bridge that connects 2 mountain peaks. But it's really not as dramatic as it sounds, you can see from the picture below that there's still mountain below you the whole way. You're not going to fall 3,000 meters if the bridge collapses. You may roll a lot, but you'd stop eventually. It's only 351 feet long...any longer and I bet it would really start to sway. The wind is pretty fierce up there. It's also only 31 inches wide, so I can see it getting pretty crowded. The bridge is made of metal grates so you could see right through.
Once you get to the other mountain peak there's room for pictures and selfies.
The bridge cost $1.8 million CHF. It's free to cross the bridge, so they are really banking on the fee for the cable car and increased restaurant traffic to make their money back.
The skiing got some bad reviews online, the runs are short. I don't think we would go back to ski, there is better skiing closer to our house.
We had a nice time, I can look at the alps all day. After the bridge we had lunch outside and then headed back home. I wouldn't mind going back to the bridge now that there is more snow. Snow makes everything look prettier.
The Scariest Bridges article had 2 more listed that are in Switzerland. We plan on going to both of those. One will have to wait till Spring as it's a 90 minute hike to get to. It's a legit suspension bridge, so you can't cross if it's too windy. I'm excited for that one!!
Auf Wiedersehen aus der Schweiz!
